Mother / Daughter Fitness Photoshoot

I've worked with Michelle Goldrick and number of times now. This time we brought her daughter in for a mother / daughter shoot. Her little one is so cute and photogenic. We did some studio work and then went to the park. There were great pictures at each location showing off fitness and fun.

Detroit Fights - Motor City Casino

Athletic Nudes with Michelle Goldrick

Michelle and I have worked together several times now and we decided to shoot some implied athletic nudes. Michelle always arrives in great shape and really poses well on her own. During this shoot I decided to change things up a bit and shoot some of the set on white. I was really pleased with the results.

Athletic Nudes with Nate and Tania

Fitness couple Nate & Tania came into the studio for the Athletic Nude Series. Shooting couples is always more challenging, making sure everyone is flexed, posed, covered up and properly lit. However when done right the pictures have a great energy about them.

Pointe Tango - Promotional Shoot

Talented dancers Erin and Alex from the Pointe Tango Dance Company came into the studio for a picture to promote their new show Para Dos, debuting at the London Fringe Festival in June.

We played with a few poses before deciding on this pose and then we fired up the fog machine to get a nice background.

Clothing Shoot with VVV Fight Co

Repeat business is the best business. I've been shooting for VVV Fight Co for a couple of years now, they even turned one of my pictures into a t-shirt. Just before their new Competition GI went on sale I went down to Scarborough to shoot it for promotional materials. This GI is truly a functional work of art.

NEW STUDIO!

I had gotten away from blogging my shoots recently as I have been busy building a new studio and moving the business. I've moved the studio inside of Warriors Boxing and Fitness where I'll have 24/7 access. The studio is a private area within the gym itself and I'll have run of the 8000 sq. ft. boxing facility as well.

The studio address is 30 Adelaide St. North, London, Ontario.

There's always room to improve, but my studio is up and operational. I had 6 clients in the first week. Here's a little behind the scenes video of the new studio and gym.

I had a little dancer in the studio on the weekend. She was so cute and had lots of fun playing on the yoga balls.

Dance Session with Allie

Allie Goodbun came down to the studio from Toronto for a dance photo session. She's a great dance and has a really nice aesthetic for dance photos. I had a really nice time making images with her. She even brought some of her kickboxing equipment for a couple of quick photos.

Athletic Nudes with Sherri

Sherri contact me in December last year about shooting the athletic nude series. She's a fitness competitor. After a one week delay from bad weather in February we got a chance to shoot in the studio. Sherri was in great shape with good definition.

Deadlifts are great for engaging backs, arms and legs.

The rear double biceps pose shows off the back nicely.

- The Athletic Implied Nudes series is an exploration of the human body under muscle stress— understanding the body’s strength, flexibility, and power. Clean backgrounds, hard lighting, and black & white photography work together to eliminate distractions and highlight the muscle groups and figure of my subjects.

Beginning with Mixed Martial Artists and Boxers, I have developed my technique to capture rapidly firing muscle groups at high speed in front of the lens. The resulting instinct for timing fight photography has lead to an ability to freeze my subjects at the peak of their motion. Discovering a better understanding of the human form with this project has transitioned into my commercial fitness work, maximizing composition and positioning to best showcase the human form.

PFC 8: Unfinished Business

PFC 8: Unfinished Business was my 8th show with Jamie Champion (the fight promoter) I've been photographing Jamie's fights since 2014 and making the posters since 2016. It was a good event at the Marconi Club in London, Ontario and the place was packed to capacity. There were 7 amateur kickboxing match sanctioned by WAKO Canada.
