I did some bodyscape images with Piper last week, the images turned out great. Thanks to my assistant Jessica for helping during the shoot.

Pinup Shoot with April

International model April Hutchinson and I have been wanting to shoot again for a while and finally found the time. We did a couple of quick set, because when you work with a good model you only need a short time. Including her fight April and I have probably shot together 7 or 8 times now. Photo Shoot with April - Teaser and BTS

International model April Hutchinson and I have been wanting to shoot again for a while and finally found the time last night. Fitness Photo Shoot with Kim

Kim came into the studio just after her fitness competition last November with the OPA (Ontario Physique Association) which is now the CPA (Canadian Physique Alliance) Kim was shredden, strong and focused. We have talked a lot beforehand to determine the types of images we wanted to create. We captured some really strong images.

Athletic Nudes with Alora Griffiths

Alora Griffiths, is a lifelong athlete starting out in competitive hockey, then cross-fit and now power lifting. She can squat 400lbs and dead lift 400lbs placing her top 10 in her weight class. She came into the studio in December to shoot my athletic nude series. Her warmups are most people's personal bests. We lifted "light" that day, just enough weight to bring out the muscles. Alora was a lot of fun to hang out with and constantly amazed with her strength.

- The Athletic Implied Nudes series is an exploration of the human body under muscle stress— understanding the body’s strength, flexibility, and power. Clean backgrounds, hard lighting, and black & white photography work together to eliminate distractions and highlight the muscle groups and figure of my subjects.

Beginning with Mixed Martial Artists and Boxers, I have developed my technique to capture rapidly firing muscle groups at high speed in front of the lens. The resulting instinct for timing fight photography has lead to an ability to freeze my subjects at the peak of their motion. Discovering a better understanding of the human form with this project has transitioned into my commercial fitness work, maximizing composition and positioning to best showcase the human form.

- Alora Griffiths has been powerlifting for 4 years. She is ranked 10th in the world for the 132lb / Female / Raw with Wraps.

Ontario Muscle Contest Winner

In October I teamed up with Ontario Muscle to have a contest with the winner receiving a free photo shoot with me. There were a tonne of great entries, so many deserving people entered. Steven & Rachel Hughes of Fierce Within won this years contest. Steven excused himself from the shoot as he's well into his bulking season and a cut down at this point would throw off his off season. Rachel was just at the apex of her prep and can in lean and muscular.

Thanks to Ontario Muscle for promoting the hell out of the contest. They are a great platform for fitness and bodybuilding competitors and enthusiasts in the province.

Top Down Shoot with Jaclyn (NSFW)

I wanted to try a different lighting scheme and camera perspective than I normally use. Jaclyn was kind enough to help me out with it even though the space and setup were restrictive to her movements. She worked really hard at posing with the constraints of the frame. She did a great job coming up with compelling poses.

I mounted the camera on a boom and shot straight down. For lighting I used two very large softboxes, gelled with red, horizontally oriented, cross lighting the model at camera left head and camera foot. Many thanks to Sean for helping me with the setup, including the heavy lifting.

Jaclyn and I went through the images and picked out some great images to edit

Poolside with April

Internationally published model April Hutchinson and I decided to shoot in her pool last night. She of course killed it. We did a lot of natural light, but I did bring along a little flash to just make things pop. Speedlight and an 18" softbox helped light her up. Tonight was a lot about playing around with various styles, lighting, patterns, perspectives etc.

We're planing on submitting images from the session and working on our next photo shoot.

After getting some great images, she showed me some of her latest photos. As good a model she is, she's a better photographer. Her photography skills are so good and her bookshelf is littered with books than she's been published in.

April up on the pool, the blue water really made her eyes pop.

Beauty and Braun - Full Set (Not Safe For Work)

Earlier this year a couple of models came into studio for some figure study work. It ended up being a great collaboration so at the end of the shoot we decided to self-publish a small magazine of the shoot for fun.

Fitness Photos with Annastasia

Emerging model Annastasia came into the studio for a fitness photo shoot. She really learned fast and her posing really became very fluid by the time the shoot ended. We both had a lot of fun working together and got some great images.
